Remote your marine radio over a long distance without using a PC
Through the use of a specially designed version of the Mimer SoftLine Network Interface, a remote control can be set up for an Icom marineradio (M423, M424, M400BB, M506, M510) and its standard hand held Command Microphone.
With Mimer SoftLine the radio and its Command Microphone can be separated by a standard CAT5/CAT6 cable of up to 150m. By connecting through a standard LAN, WAN or the Internet, the distance can be “Around the world”.
There are control rooms that are not allowed to use copper wire connections and not to use PC´s for the dispatchers. For such cases a fibre connection can be set up between radio and command microphone.
Compared to having a radio on your desk the benefit of remote control is that the radio can be placed in a high up place in the building and there use a short antenna cable, for low loss. It can also be placed at a different site, closer to the shoreline and the ships that you need to communicate with.
