Functionality

As with all other SoftRadio you can operate several radios from one dispatcher and each radio can be operated from several dispatchers. Each dispatcher can also use other types of radios in a mix.

The network interface is connected between the radio unit and the control head. This means that the control head can be used, in parallel, local at the radio. There can also be another control head connected to the other port on the radio, this will also work in parallel with the virtual control head.

The virtual control head will show the modern SCC control head with colour display. The terminal needs no special programming except activation of control head on the correct port.

There is also a kit to remote control the radios standard control head. Separating the radio and the control head through IP. Remote connection can be made through LAN, WAN or the Internet.

Older Sepura Terminals

On older versions of Sepura terminals, up to firmware release V10.21-004, the first version of Mimer Network Interfaces can be used. They will also give full remote control, displaying the old monochrome screen control head. These interfaces can not be used on later releases of firmware since those terminals doesn´t support the monochrome control head.

Single Talk Group Use

For users that needs only one talkgroup and no other functions from the radio, the Network Interface LE can be used. A system mix of advanced radios and single talkgroup radios are also possible. See example below.

The terminal then needs to be equipped either with the standard control head or with the AIU-box, so that audio can be accessed through them.

Examples of use:

Local use when several dispatchers want to share one radio
Remote use where a dispatcher at one location want to talk to radio users at a different location
Cross patch between Tetra and other two way radio systems, like Airband, Nexedge, DMR, MPT or an other Tetra network
Service work, by placing a radio at a remote location in the Tetra network

Typical at a larger dispatch installation is to have a few radios with a fixed talk group (through the Network Interface LE) and a few with a full remote function (Standard Interface).

In this way the dispatchers can monitor all the most important/most used talk groups in parallel. And depending on need set the full function radios to other talk groups and use them for sending SDS messages etc.
